People vs Car

Here's another example of failed old school planning and how the previous attempts of mobilising a city through car use had an adverse effect on pedestrian flow. The image shows the remains of an access point to a series of elevated walkways designed to connect Bristol's City Centre to the Old Market area. The concept was never fully realised, but some walkways remain along with this brutalist staircase. Pedestrians prefer to use the pavements along side of the road. This example outlines the ongoing question of how best to incorporate pedestrians and vehicles.
