Global Architecture & the Mobility of architectural inspiration

Commenting on Matt's blog about virtual mobility…

In a way we experience a lot more visually nowadays through the modern communication systems but at the same time we pay less attention to details.
We can probably all agree that experiencing architecture on a basic level is mainly visual and although a deeper and thorough understanding of an architectural creation can only be achieved through physical presence, the main human sense to register spatial information remains visual.
Compared to a physical-spatial experience whereby a human registers many thousands of images in a second if not more, a visual-virtual experience is based upon limited number of images.
My concern and question is whether the solely virtual experience without physical attendance is reliable enough to influence the contemporary architecture in a positive direction?
